  6. Taking shots from a rigid point of view
  7. Not being alert to dull poses

I will now discuss each of these common photograpy mistakes in details and how to rectify them to make you a better photographer

Use of Substandard or poor digital camera: The type digital camera you choose at the start can make or break the final digital photo, if you use substandard or poor digital camera the final output will always be poor looking photograph. The most import things among others to look for when choosing the right digital camera for your photography is the amount of pixel it can display and the size of it’s optical zoom lens. The Fujifilm FinePix S2950 Digital Camera comes highly recommended with mouthwatering 14 Megapixel for crisp sharp images and 18x Optical Zoom it’s a really cheap budget digital camera for taking professional style digital photos like a pro. One thing that particularly impressed me about this camera since I’ve been using it is the big user friendly screen to view your photos on and it’s range of modes for different lighting condition not to mention it’s  practical face tracking functionality. Now let’s look at the next common mistake by photography beginners.

Improper adjustment of aperture and shutter speed: Assuming you want to exercise more control on your camera and set it to manual mode then when you shoot in Av you only need to select the aperture size and the camera will atomatically select the correct shutter speed to give the correct exposure. Likewise you do the oppsite when shooting in Tv. It is important to follow this guidline otherwise thr result of your fina output might be unpredictable.

Pointing directly at the sun: I have to admit that I was also guilty of this error when starting out, I know it’s very obvious but many photography beginners still make this mistake. Always point your lens away from the sun or direct light source to avoid backlight effect. Some digital camera have compensation to minimize the effect of backlight but I will still advice that prevention is better than cure so it’s best avoid pointing to direct light source in the first place.

Turning off flash for outdoor shoots: On the face of it, it looks like it make sense to turn off the flash light when shooting outside in sunlight. Infact this is not a good practice, always leave your camera flash turn on when shooting outside in sunlight as it helps reduce faint ugly shadows from your final output.

Not taking steps to minimise ugly shadows: Proper steps and care should be taken to reduce ugly shadows from your shots at all cost. Nobody want to see photo with thick ugly shadows all over the place. That is why it’s important to take extra care with shadows. If shooting indoors try and use soft lights where possible and and have two lights on opposite end of the subject to cancel each other’s out. I deally you will be pointing the light away from the subject i.e to the ceiling to minimize shadow effects.

Taking shots from a rigid point of view: Try and be creative, take your shots from different angles for review later when you can then cherry pick the best angle for your purpose. When you found a really interesting angle to take your shots don’t be afraid to experiment even further.

Not being alert to dull poses: If shooting fashion or glamour photography,  always be alerted to the poses of your subject. Avoid stiff pose and encourage your subject to varieties of more interesting and eye catching action poses.
